Seminars ran from 9 til 4 each day with a short time out for lunch. Trying to fit in everything you wanted to do was a major problem. You just had to choose your favorites and go for it. Tuesday afternoon from 4 to 7 was set aside for the “State Row Parties.” Each state row prepared a treat to be shared with anyone dropping by. It has been a custom for the Georgia row to make homemade ice cream, and we didn’t break the tradition. It tasted great on that hot, sunny afternoon, and we had plenty of people to share it with. |

The Georgia row had a cookout on Thursday evening, and other evenings we all went to a traditional local restaurant. Franklin and Margret Jackson brought their granddaughters, Cristin (12) and Madison (7). Cristin and Madison had plenty to do, as WIT had provided an extensive youth program. Pool and pizza parties, craft classes, mazes, midway (carnival rides), movies, bowling, mimes, bike safety classes, bike rodeo, wall climbing, volley ball, frisbee, washer toss, horseshoe, beanbag baseball, ice cream social, dance, entertainment by disc jockey and lots of door prizes kept them and the other youngsters busy and happy. The cost for this is only $25.00per child for the entire rally. Pretty good, huh?
On Friday night, during the announcement period, awards were presented. Thanks to Fred Tomsett, our state website won first place; the Atlanta Metros tied for first place on the local level; and our Gone with the Winnies won third place.
The Gone with the Winnie’s newsletter won second place, and we were again awarded the “Certificate of Excellence” for our club, as were the Sta-Goners. |

Our Georgia clubs won a total of six awards. I think that is a record, and I am indeed proud of our accomplishments.
There was a total of 1,435 paid coaches in attendance, but we were disappointed by the small number of Georgia Winnie Rebels in the Georgia Row - we had only five coaches, and all were gone with the Winnies.
Our three B’s (the Bells, Bertkes, and Brewtons), were such a pleasure don’t know what we would have done without them. Their participation and cooperation made our job as “head of row” coach so much easier. |

In the past Georgia has been one of the top ten participants. Other people from Georgia (including the Ripleys and Nevilles) were parked in various rows, making a total of 14 coaches from Georgia.
You should start making plans now to attend GNR 2008, because it is Winnebago’s 50th birthday and they are planning a humdinger of a celebration, and guess what? WE’RE ALL INVITED!!! |
